I don't understand what is happening and why checking or unchecking the Preferences Apply seems to make no difference. Pressing the Auto button changed the images in exactly the same way with exactly the same values for both imports. That is, regardless of whether the Preferences checkbox was checked or not the images loaded with the same values in the Tone adjustments. I then exited LR, started it again, unchecked the Preferences checkbox, exited LR, restarted it, created a new catalog, imported the same raw images and performed the same steps. The values changed when the Auto button was pressed and I took another screen shot. I then pressed the Auto button assuming nothing would happen (as I had set the Preferences to apply the Auto Tone adjustments when the images were loaded) and took another screen shot. I then took a screen shot of what the Tone adjustments values were set to. I loaded Lightroom, set the Preferences checkbox to apply the auto adjustments, exited LR (just in case it needed to be set properly when loaded), created a new catalog and imported some raw images. That seemed logical but it is not what is actually happening. I have used the term AUTO ADJUSTMENTS to mean those adjustments that would be applied by pressing the Auto button in the Tone section.ġ) Setting the Preferences -> Presets -> Apply Auto Tone Adjustments will cause Lightroom to apply the AUTO ADJUSTMENTS to the loaded raw images.Ģ) Unsetting the Preferences -> Presets -> Apply Auto Tone Adjustments will load raw images without applying the AUTO ADJUSTMENTS. I have made the following assumptions which appear to be wrong.
